Day 1: What is your earliest memory?
I believe I have blocked quite a bit of my childhood. Not that I had a horrible childhood – no abuse, lots of love – but it’s easier to not remember the good times that preceded the dissolution of my parents marriage. So with that being said, my earliest memory would be of our move to Virginia. Moving into our new house was so cool. No more sharing a room. My mom had her own bathroom and the laundry room was on the second floor! We were so happy… until nightfall and it was so quiet that none of us could sleep. Coming from the inner city, we’d all been so used to the sound of people and sirens that the absolute silence was deafening. It took weeks to sleep and months before we became comfortable in our new home. But it was just that… our new home.
